Join experienced orienteer and Jug Bay volunteer Dave Linthicum in a fun, hands-on field experience to learn “old fashioned” orienteering skills for finding your way in the forest. In this era of “Hey Siri, Open Maps” and GPS – smart phone navigation and compass apps, park rangers are reporting more lost hikers than ever and serious atrophy in the “old time” skills. Easy-to-use color maps will be provided, as will compasses if you don’t bring one. We will hike for about a mile, sometimes on uneven ground. Dress for the weather as you will be outside for the entire program. Limited to 10 participants. Ages: 12 and older. Fee: $10/individual. Current health guidelines will be enforced. COVID mask, social distancing, and registration required.
