Do you love salamanders? Are you interested in helping increase salamander survival in their breeding season?

Every year, with the first warm rains of the spring, Spotted Salamanders participate in a mass migration from their woodland homes to their water breeding sites. This involves crossing many roads and often results in lots of fatalities due to cars and traffic. This year, we are starting a volunteer program to monitor the Spotted Salamander migration and act as crossing guards for these animals!

If you are interested in volunteering with the Salamander Migration program, you are required to attend the orientation info session, and be on call for at least 2 evenings during the migration window (end of February-beginning of March). Volunteering will include walking up to 2 miles along a road in the rain at night for up to 4 hours.
