Orienteering

Join experienced orienteer and Jug Bay volunteer, Dave Linthicum, in a fun, hands-on all-outdoors experience to learn “old school” orienteering skills for finding your way in the forest.  In this era of “Hey Siri, Open Maps” and GPS – smart phone navigation and compass apps, park rangers are reporting more lost hikers than ever and serious atrophy in the “old time” skills.  Easy-to-use color maps will be provided, as will compasses if you don’t bring one.  We will hike for about 1.5 miles, sometimes on uneven ground.  Dress for the weather as you will be outside for the entire program.  (Contact DaveLinthicum@earthlink.net about this or other orienteering events.)  Limited to 15 participants.  Ages 15 and up. Fee: $10 pp.  Registration and current health guidelines required.
