First Day Hike

First Day Hikes are free, guided hikes offered each year on New Year’s Day. The program started in Massachusetts in 1992 and has since gone nationwide. The hikes are intended to promote an alternate way of celebrating the New Year by going outside, getting some exercise, and enjoying local nature and history. This year join volunteers Mike Quinlan,  Maryland Master Naturalist and resident herptologist, and Gordon Reynolds, Maryland Master Naturalist and bird extraordinaire, on an exploration of a natural winter wonderland. Dress for the weather. Sturdy footwear, binoculars, and cameras recommended. Ages 12 and older. Free and park entrance fee is waived. Current health guidelines and registration required.
