A citizen science program for those who love turtles and science, this is a chance to contribute to one of our newest research projects at the Sanctuary; the Eastern Box Turtle Population Survey!
We are seeking volunteers who have interest in learning how to monitor several plots across the Sanctuary for native Eastern Box Turtles using a new biological survey protocol. Project includes handling turtles and off-trail hiking in all weather, including marshy areas and hilly terrain to survey for turtles. Surveys need to be conducted once per week from mid-April to late-June (10 weeks) between the hours of 9am – 3pm. Volunteers commit to signing up for a minimum of one 3 hour shift per month, typically on the weekends from mid-April through June between 9am-12pm or 12pm-3pm.
Ages 18+. Registration and current health guidelines required. Space is limited!
