We are thrilled to welcome Kerry Wixted as this years' Keynote Speaker for the Summit. She will deliver an opening address titled, "Shellebrating Herps and the People Who Steward Them". We’ll explore the rich diversity of herpetofauna in the region, uncovering the ecological roles they play and the pressing threats they face, including habitat loss, climate change, and illegal trade. This talk will also highlight the vital work of conservationists and community scientists whose passion and dedication are helping to safeguard these species for future generations. Kerry Wixted is a Maryland naturalist with over 15 years of experience working with our state’s wild flora and fauna. She has a MS from West Virginia University and a BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Management from Frostburg State University. She has previously worked for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and currently is with the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.
