The Sanctuary is an ideal place to enhance college coursework with field experiences. Professors are welcome to teach students in the field, or to engage a naturalist to lead a program. Whether the subject is botany, wetlands, ecology, or ornithology, Jug Bay is a living laboratory in which to explore and apply concepts addressed in class.
Many scientific studies have been carried out at Jug Bay, increasing our knowledge of various plants and animal communities, as well as wetland ecology. These research results, and our technical reports, are available to college classes.
Equipment available for program use includes:
Seines, D-nets, Soil Augers, Microscopes, Plankton Nets, Water Chemistry Tests, Water Quality Probes, Radio Telemetry (in season), Binoculars and Spotting Scope, Digital Camera, Field Guides, GPS unit
